Peer Reviewer Process Policy

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Lintas Keperawatan (JLK) must follow the Focus and Scope and Author Guidelines of this journal. The submitted manuscripts must address scientific merit or novelty appropriate to the focus and scope. All manuscripts must be free from plagiarism contents. All authors are suggested to use plagiarism detection software to do the similarity checking. Editors check the plagiarism detection of articles in this journal by using a Turnitin software, in accordance with the Plagiarism Policy of JLK.

The research article submitted to this journal will be double-blind reviewed by at least two (2) or more expert reviewers in the relevant field of nursing. The reviewers give scientifically valuable comments to improve the contents of the manuscript.

The final decision of article acceptance will be made by the Editors according to the reviewers' comments. Publication of accepted articles, including the sequence of published articles, will be made by the Editor-in-Chief by considering the sequence of accepted date and geographical distribution of authors as well as thematic issue.

Review Workflow

1

Submission

Authors submit the manuscript online through the JLK OJS portal, together with the Title Page, the anonymized manuscript, and the required statements.

2

Initial Check (Desk Evaluation)

The Editor-in-Chief checks whether the manuscript fits the focus and scope of JLK, is sufficiently original, has no serious scientific flaws, and complies with the author guidelines and template. The similarity index is checked using Turnitin; manuscripts with a similarity index above 20% are returned to the authors for revision. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements are rejected immediately (desk rejection).

3

Editor Assignment

If the manuscript passes the initial check, the Editor-in-Chief assigns an Editor-in-Charge whose expertise matches the topic of the manuscript. Direct acceptance at this stage is possible but very rare.

4

Double-Blind Peer Review

The Editor-in-Charge invites at least two (2) reviewers to assess the scientific soundness, coherence, possible duplication of previously published work, and clarity of the manuscript. Reviewers are not asked to copyedit the manuscript, as language correction is handled by the Editor-in-Charge. The identities of both the authors and the reviewers are concealed from each other, and reviewers are selected to avoid conflicts of interest. The review typically takes 4 to 20 weeks.

5

Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editor-in-Charge decides to accept the manuscript, request a minor or major revision, or reject it.

6

Revision and Re-evaluation

Authors revise the manuscript according to the reviewers' and editors' comments and submit the revised version together with a response letter explaining each change made. After a minor revision, the Editor-in-Charge checks the changes without involving the original reviewers. After a major revision, the original reviewers re-examine the changes before the Editor-in-Charge makes a decision. A second review round may be ordered, especially after a major revision.

7

Final Decision

The Editor-in-Charge makes the final decision to accept or reject the manuscript, considering the reviewers' recommendations, the revisions made, and other requirements such as a similarity index of no more than 20%. This decision is final and cannot be appealed. Accepted manuscripts receive a Letter of Acceptance (LoA).

8

Copyediting, Layout, and Proofreading

Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting and layout. The corresponding author is asked to check the galley proof before publication.

9

Publication

The article is published online with a DOI in the scheduled issue. JLK is published twice a year, in April and October.

Editorial Decisions

The manuscript is accepted without further changes.

Minor Revision

The manuscript requires small corrections; the changes are checked by the Editor-in-Charge without returning to the reviewers.
