The Relationship between Family Caregivers’ Knowledge and Self-Efficacy in Caring for Elderly Patients with Diabetes Mellitus

Abstrak

Family Caregivre memiliki peran penting dalam perawatan lansia dengan Diabetes Mellitus Tipe 2 (DMT2). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara pengetahuan caregiver keluarga mengenai perawatan DMT2 dengan self-efficacy mereka dalam merawat lansia. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross-sectional dengan melibatkan 122 caregiver keluarga dari lansia dengan DMT2. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner terstruktur untuk mengukur pengetahuan dan self-efficacy caregiver. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman rank. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata usia responden adalah 52,6 ± 8,04 tahun, sebagian besar berjenis kelamin perempuan (77%), berpendidikan terakhir SMP (49,2%), tidak bekerja (81,1%), dan merupakan anak dari pasien (77%). Rata-rata skor pengetahuan adalah 17,2 ± 3,4 (rentang 12-25), sedangkan rata-rata skor self-efficacy adalah 42,5 ± 11,7 (rentang 19-61). Terdapat hubungan positif yang kuat dan signifikan antara pengetahuan caregiver dan self-efficacy (rₛ = 0,758; p < 0,001), yang menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi pengetahuan, semakin tinggi self-efficacy caregiver. Kesimpulannya, pengetahuan caregiver berhubungan signifikan dengan self-efficacy dalam merawat lansia dengan DMT2.
