POST-PUBLICATION DISCUSSION
POST-PUBLICATION DISCUSSION
Juru Rawat: Jurnal Update Keperawatan recognizes the importance of post-publication discussion in maintaining the quality, transparency, and integrity of scientific communication. The journal supports constructive scholarly feedback and critical discussion concerning articles that have already been published.
1 Purpose and Scope
Post-publication discussion allows readers, researchers, nurses, healthcare professionals, and other members of the academic community to raise substantive questions, provide alternative interpretations, identify potential errors, and discuss the implications of published research in nursing practice, nursing education, healthcare services, and patient or community care. All discussions should contribute to scientific understanding and be conducted respectfully, objectively, and professionally.
2 Submission of Comments
Readers wishing to comment on a published article may contact the editorial office through the journal's official communication channels. Submissions should identify the article concerned, explain the scientific or methodological issue being raised, and provide supporting evidence or relevant references where appropriate. Comments must be relevant, evidence-based, and professionally written. Personal attacks, defamatory statements, discriminatory language, and unsupported allegations are not acceptable.
3 Editorial Assessment
The editorial team evaluates submitted comments for relevance, scientific merit, clarity, and suitability for publication. Where necessary, the editor may consult independent experts or invite the authors of the original article to respond. The journal may request revisions, decline unsuitable submissions, or determine the appropriate format for communicating a discussion. Editorial decisions should be made fairly and in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.
4 Authors' Right to Respond
When a comment raises substantive questions or criticism concerning a published article, the original authors may be invited to provide a response. The response should address the issues raised directly, provide supporting evidence where appropriate, and maintain a constructive professional tone. Providing an opportunity to respond does not imply endorsement of either position by the journal. The purpose is to facilitate balanced scholarly discussion and enable readers to assess the arguments and evidence presented.
5 Publication of Comments and Responses
Comments and responses accepted for publication may appear as correspondence, letters to the editor, or another appropriate scholarly format, subject to editorial approval and the journal's publication arrangements. Published discussions should clearly identify the original article. Where possible, the journal may provide links between the original article, the comment, and the corresponding author response to improve transparency and accessibility.
6 Corrections and Research Integrity Concerns
Post-publication comments identifying potential factual errors, methodological problems, ethical concerns, or possible research misconduct will be assessed by the editorial team. Depending on the concern, the journal may request clarification, consult relevant experts, or contact the appropriate institution. Where necessary, the journal may publish a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction in accordance with its publication ethics policies. Post-publication discussion does not replace a formal investigation when research integrity concerns require further examination.
7 Ethical Standards
All participants in post-publication discussion, including commenters, authors, editors, and reviewers, are expected to uphold academic integrity, fairness, objectivity, and respect. Confidential information, personal data, and unpublished materials must be handled appropriately. Relevant conflicts of interest must be disclosed to the editorial team. Comments and responses must also comply with applicable copyright requirements and the journal's publication ethics policies.
8 Commitment to Scholarly Dialogue
Juru Rawat: Jurnal Update Keperawatan encourages responsible scholarly dialogue as part of its commitment to continuous improvement and the integrity of the scientific record. The journal aims to facilitate fair and constructive discussion of published research while ensuring that concerns are handled transparently and professionally.
