Abstract

Head injury or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is an injury caused by impact that can damage the structure and function of the brain. In Aceh, its prevalence reaches 13.3% of all injury cases and is a major cause of morbidity and mortality, requiring prompt and appropriate management in the emergency department. This study aimed to determine patient outcomes of head injury cases in the Emergency Department of RSUD dr. Zainoel Abidin in 2023. A quantitative descriptive observational design was used involving 69 patients with total sampling. The results showed patient outcomes of death (2.9%), ICU admission (13.0%), surgery (15.9%), hospitalization (56.5%), and discharge (11.6%).In conclusion, most patients required hospitalization, indicating the need to improve the quality of care to enhance outcomes in head injury patients.
