Compliance Brushing Teeth Dental Caries Elementary School Oral and Dental Health.Abstract
Dental caries remains one of the most common oral health problems among elementary school children. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between compliance with brushing teeth twice daily and the incidence of dental caries among elementary school students at SD Negeri Cisintok in 2026. The study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 85 students from grades I–VI were selected using proportional stratified random sampling. Data on toothbrushing compliance were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire, while dental caries data were obtained through observation sheets from dental examinations. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Chi-Square test at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the majority of respondents had low compliance with brushing their teeth twice daily, and dental caries was found in more than half of the respondents. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between compliance with brushing teeth twice daily and the incidence of dental caries (p-value < 0.05). The findings indicate that higher compliance with brushing teeth twice daily is associated with a lower incidence of dental caries among students.
