The formation of dental plaque can be prevented by plaque control including mechanical control and chemical control, one of which is gargling using natural ingredients, namely young coconut water (Cocus Nucifera L Var. Viridis). Pure coconut water has antimicrobial activity due to its high lauric acid content and has been used as a remedy for several oral infections. This study aims to determine the effect of young coconut water gargling (Cocus Nucifera L Var. Viridis) on dental plaque. The type of research used was quasi-experimental with a pretest and posttest one group design. The sample in this study was taken by means of purposive sampling totaling 44 people. Measurements were made before and after consuming 100 ml of young coconut water (Cocus Nucifera L Var. Viridis). Plaque was measured using the Personal Hygiene Performance (PHP) method. Data analysis used the Mann-Whitney test. The results of the study gargling young coconut water (Cocos Nucifera L Var. Viridis) 1.31 and after decreasing 0.47. There was a significant difference between before and after gargling young coconut water (Cocos Nucifera L Var. Viridis) p=0.000. The conclusion in this study was that gargling with young coconut water (Cocos Nucifera L Var. Viridis) had an effect on reducing the dental plaque index2023-12-18T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2023 Jurnal Kesehatan Gigihttps://ejournal.poltekkes-smg.ac.id/ojs/index.php/jkg/article/view/10867Comparison of The Antibacterial Activity of Bentonite and Amoksisilin Against Streptococcus Mutans Causes of Caries2023-12-18T13:27:03+07:00Dendy Murdiyantodm124@ums.ac.idMukti Ginanjardm124@ums.ac.idPramudya Radityadm124@ums.ac.idStreptococcus mutans is a normal flora bacteria in the oral cavity. Streptococcus mutans colonizes the oral cavity during the eruption of the first teeth, which in turn causes the teeth to experience caries. Bentonite is a clay consisting of the mineral smectite, especially montmorillonite. Montmorillonite is a member of smectite with the chemical formula (Al2O3 4 SiO2 x H2O). The high cation exchange capacity and fine particle size can inhibit bacterial growth. This study aims to compare the antibacterial activity of bentonite and amoksisilin against Streptococcus mutans. Materials and research methods divide the bentonite solution into five groups with concentrations of 5%, 10%, 20%, 40%, and 100%, and one group of amoksisilin and one control group. The solution was tested for antibacterial activity by diffusion on blood agar against Streptococcus mutans. The results showed that all bentonite solution groups differed from the amoksisilin group (p < 0.05). Meanwhile, the antibacterial activity of the bentonite solution group was no different from the negative control group (p > 0.05). The conclusion from this study was that there was a difference in antibacterial activity between the bentonite and amoksisilin groups, where bentonite did not show inhibition of the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria2023-12-18T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2023 Jurnal Kesehatan Gigihttps://ejournal.poltekkes-smg.ac.id/ojs/index.php/jkg/article/view/10866Antibacterial Activity of Andaliman Ethanol Extract (Zantoxylum Acanthopodium Dc.) The most common and frequent periodontal disease is chronic periodontitis which is caused by the accumulation of plaque and calculus. Alternative treatment using herbal ingredients such as andaliman fruit (Zantoxylum acanthopodium DC.) has therapeutic benefits because of its broad biological activity, and lower side effects. Andaliman fruit (Zantoxylum acanthopodium DC.) contains active compounds such as phenolic compounds, saponins, flavonoids, tannins, triterpenoids, steroids, and alkaloids that act as antibacterial. The aim of this study was to determine the minimum inhibitory level (MIC) and minimum killing rate (MBC) of andaliman fruit ethanol extract against Porphyromonas gingivalis bacteria. The research procedure used for the MIC and MBC tests was broth microdilution and the number of colonies was counted using the total plate count (TPC) with variations of 6 concentrations of andaliman fruit ethanol extract with 10% DMSO solvent and 0.2% Chlorhexidine. Statistical analysis in this study was performed using Levene Statistics and Post Hoc Dunnet T3. The ethanol extract of andaliman fruit has a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and a minimum killing concentration (MBC) against the growth of Porphyromonas gingivalis bacteria. The minimum inhibitory concentration in the ethanol extract of andaliman fruit was at a concentration of 25%, while the minimum killing concentration was at a concentration of 100%.
2023-12-18T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2023 Jurnal Kesehatan Gigihttps://ejournal.poltekkes-smg.ac.id/ojs/index.php/jkg/article/view/9700Effectiveness of Counseling with Booklet Media on Improving Pregnant Women's Knowledge about Gingivitis at Kedungmundu Public Health Center in Semarang City2024-03-08T16:33:31+07:00Syifa Rachma Issantisyifaaissanti@gmail.comMaria Ulfah Kurnia Dewiassignment.nia123@gmail.comRetno KusniatiRetnok193@gmail.com
Introduction: Gingivitis is referred to as an oral manifestation in pregnant women and occurs around 30-100%. However, alginate impression material is still difficult to find in remote areas, this is due to the distance factor and the limited supply of alginate. One of the substitutes for alginate is sweet corn that contain polysaccharide a and are easily available in Indonesia. . This type of research is a laboratory experimental study using 4 groups, consisting of the first group as a control group, namely alginate without being given a mixture of sweet corn flour (10 g). The second group with 60% alginate percentage (6 g) sweet corn flour 40% (4 g) . The third group alginate percentage 55% (5.5 g) sweet corn flour 45% (4.5 g). The fourth group was 50% alginate (5 g) 50% sweet corn flour (5 g). Each group consists of 6 samples. The results of this study were then analyzed using One Way Anova to see if there were differences in each treatment group, the results showed that there were significant differences (p <0.05) in each group. This study also found the group with the fastest setting time, namely the control group, with an average of and the longest setting time is in group 3 with an average of 234 seconds . This can happen because of the polysaccharide content, namely amylopectin in sweet corn flour. The conclusion of this study is that sweet corn flour ( Zea mays L. Colony Count in Children Dental Caries Under 10 Years Old2023-12-18T13:27:06+07:00Fikih Zulfa Erniwatifikihzulfa@gmail.comMuhammad Taufiq Qurrohmanm.taufiqqurrohman@stikesnas.ac.id
The dental and oral disease problem faced by the Indonesian population as well as in other developing countries is dental caries tissue disease. Bacteria colonize the oral cavity to produce acid, resulting in a demineralization process in dental caries tissue. Candida albicans is the main agent of oral candidiasis. The development of these two microorganisms interacts with each other to form a layer of biofilm, which is the beginning of caries. Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by Candida sp., which is the normal microflora in the oral cavity. This study aims to analyze the relationship between tooth brushing habits and the number of Candida sp. in dental caries in children under 10 years of age. This research is an analytic survey with a cross-sectional approach. Based on research on the relationship between brushing teeth and the number of Candida sp. in children under 10 years of age at SDN 01 Petung Bondowoso students, it can be seen that out of a total of 13 respondents (100%) who have poor tooth brushing habits, there are 7 respondents (53.8%) who have a small number of colonies and 6 respondents (46.2%) who have many colonies. Meanwhile, out of a total of 41 respondents (100%) who had the habit of brushing their teeth well, it was found that 41 respondents (100%) had a small number of colonies and none had many colonies. Based on the Chi-Square test, the results obtained were p = 0.000. Because p = 0.000 <0.05, it can be interpreted that there is a relationship between brushing teeth and the number of candida fungal colonies in dental caries in children under 10 years of age. This can also be interpreted as meaning that the better the habit of brushing your teeth, the fewer the number of candida fungal colonies, and vice versa.

2023-12-18T12:58:49+07:00Copyright (c) 2023 Jurnal Kesehatan Gigihttps://ejournal.poltekkes-smg.ac.id/ojs/index.php/jkg/article/view/10279The Use of Monitoring Cards is Effective In Improving Dental And Mouth Cleanliness and The Behavior of Deaf Children2023-12-18T13:31:57+07:00Rina Kurniantirinakurnianti@poltekkesjambi.ac.idRusmiati Rusmiatirusmiatijambi@gmail.comMuliadi Muliadiilmiahverynice@gmail.comProblem statement : The limitations that deaf children have in hearing, result in cognitive information processing disorders, namely limitations in receiving, storing, and re-disclosing information as an understanding, being able to explore and add information about something (especially about dental and oral health.
