Abstract

Background: Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) currently represent the leading cause of death worldwide. Individuals with non-communicable diseases require adequate healthcare services to enhance their quality of life. However, there is often a tendency for low awareness in the community to undergo regular health check-ups. Unhealthy behaviors are frequently attributed to the lack of public knowledge about their health issues. The development of educational media tailored to factors of health-seeking behavior and basic knowledge about non-communicable diseases is crucial to improving the behavior of individuals with non-communicable diseases, making them aware and utilizing healthcare services to enhance their quality of life..

Methods: This study aims to develop appropriate educational media for the community of non-communicable disease patients. The research is a cross-sectional study involving 250 respondents. Data collection methods include interviews and questionnaire surveys. The data are subsequently analyzed using paired sample t-tests to compare the increase in knowledge and behavior before and after receiving education through various media..

Results: The results of the paired sample t-test indicate that Android media can be used for patients with arthritis with a p-value of 0.042, hypertension with a p-value of 0.034, and stroke with a p-value of 0.049. Booklet media can be used for diabetes mellitus with a p-value of 0.030, asthma with a p-value of 0.033, and arthritis with a p-value of 0.042. Poster media can be used for arthritis with a p-value of 0.042, and web media can be used for asthma with a p-value of 0.034.

Conclusion: Based on the type of disease in NCD education, the most suitable media for health seeking behavior are Diabetes Mellitus using booklets, Stroke using android, Hypertension using android, Asthma using booklets and web, arthritis using android, booklets and posters, Coronary Heart Disease using booklets.
